Since it began as a 15-bed hospital in Grand Rapids in 1893, Mercy Health Saint Mary's - now a teaching hospital with full Joint Commission accreditation - has been working to improve the health of the community. Today, on the same site, Mercy Health Saint Mary's is a NICHE Exemplar and Magnet®-recognized hospital with more than 2,500 employees. Also on the main campus are the LEED-certified Mercy Health Lacks Cancer Center and Mercy Health Hauenstein Neuroscience Center, in addition to the Mercy Health Wege Institute for Mind, Body and Spirit. Additional facilities include Mercy Health Southwest Campus in Byron Center, Michigan, housing primary care physicians, specialists, laboratory and radiology services, an outpatient surgery center, and an emergency department, and Mercy Health Rockford Campus with similar services.
