About The Jewish Board, Henry Ittleson Center

The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services has been a trailblazer in treating social problems for more than 110 years. Today, The Jewish Board is the largest human services agency in New York City, serving over 43,000 New Yorkers annually from all religious, ethnic, and economic backgrounds through a comprehensive range of 175 community-based programs, residential facilities, and day-treatment centers. Our work is built upon the professionalism of 3,300 employees, including professional social workers, licensed psychologists, and psychiatrists, as well as a cadre of clinical support personnel in continuing day treatment and residential treatment centers. A corps of 2,000 dedicated volunteers work with our staff to help ease the burdens that strain and disrupt lives. The center has an RTF for young, emotionally traumatized disturbed children. Children are referred by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH). This 32-bed program provides a rich, intensive treatment experience and special education for children, ages 5 to 13. Children often have diagnoses such as psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder. Intensive clinical services including psychiatric treatment, individual, family, group, milieu and ancillary therapies are provided in a structured and nurturing home-like environment.
