In addition to a population base of over 27,000 residents, and with easy access to lakes, mountains, recreation, and an international border, North Country Hospital also provides care to many area visitors throughout the year. The Hospital is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprised of community members, who give of their time to fulfill this vital role. The system includes the hospital, outpatient services, physician practices and Derby Green, a skilled nursing care facility. North Country Hospital is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems. It is licensed by the State of Vermont Department of Health and is certified by the Department of Health and Human Services as a provider under the Medicare program. It is also an accredited critical access hospital by the US Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which assures that the hospital meets the highest standards of medical care.
