Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital (MEH) is also a 25-bed critical access hospital with a broad range of medical specialties and primary care services (in close partnership with Alaska’s other health facilities) to support a comprehensive spectrum of healthcare and related services. The Emergency Department at MEH is a Level IV Trauma Center staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by board-certified physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses who specialize in care for patients with serious illnesses and injuries. MEH ED services include the evaluation and stabilization of patients transferred from other facilities or communities, and patients who may require transfer to higher levels of care. MEH will provide emergency medical screening and stabilization to all individuals in accordance with the Emergency Medical Services/Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act Policy (EMTLA). Our surgical services include: 24/7 General Surgery 24/7 Anesthesia Services (including epidural services) Colonoscopy / EGD Dental Services Pediatric Dental Care Obstetrics and Gynecology Orthopedic Surgery Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
