Holy Cross Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Maryland. Founded in 1963 by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, today Holy Cross Hospital is a 455-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital caring for more than 36,000 inpatients each year. Holy Cross Hospital is located on the Kevin J. Sexton campus of Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, Md., just north of Washington, D.C., and near the Capital Beltway and Metro transportation system. In 2015, the largest expansion of Holy Cross Hospital in its 55-year history was completed, bringing the latest technology and the privacy, comfort and safety of private rooms to patients throughout the hospital. With the addition of 150 private patient rooms in critical care, intermediate care and medical-surgical units, Holy Cross Hospital joined Holy Cross Germantown Hospital as the only area hospitals to offer private rooms to all patients.
