The Avera Behavioral Health Hospital and Helmsley Behavioral Health Center offer comprehensive services to patients of all ages. Avera, a leader for more than 60 years in behavioral and mental health care, brings a range of innovative inpatient and outpatient treatments conveniently at one location. Services include psychiatric urgent care, partial hospitalization, residential addiction care and specialized units for children, adolescents, adults and seniors. We also have outpatient behavioral health clinics on our campus. The hospital opened its doors in 2006 and is the only multi-specialty facility of its kind within a 200-mile radius of Sioux Falls. To prioritize patient care and minimize distractions, the facility is designed to separate visitor hallways, our main foyer, and inpatient areas in a safe, therapeutic atmosphere. Patient rooms are comfortable and accessible from common areas. Facing a mental health emergency is different for every patient. Our attentive and caring staff of nurses, technicians, social workers, therapists and other mental health professionals create a safe, welcoming environment.
