BE/BC Pediatrics Child Abuse Specialist Needed in Morgantown, WV

Job description West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a BE/BC Pediatrics Child Abuse Specialist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

In addition to excellent patient care, the faculty member will have opportunities to teach pediatrics residents and medical students.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Pediatrics. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.

Qualifications: applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified / eligible in Pediatrics. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

This position will join and lead our growing child maltreatment group, currently consisting of one pediatrician, one nurse practitioner, one social worker, and a cadre of SANE nurses. This individual would help to grow the outpatient child maltreatment program and participate in inpatient clinical consultations, resident and medical student education, and outreach to Child Advocacy Centers, rural hospitals, and clinics. Leadership of the WVU Medicine Children’s Child Abuse Committee and provision of legal testimony are also anticipated. Other clinical opportunities would also be incorporated into the faculty position based on interests of the candidate. WVU’s leading Forensic and Investigative Science Department offers substantial opportunity for academic collaborative initiatives.
