SOUTHERN ILLINOIS HEALTHCARE SEEKS PATHOLOGIST

Southern Illinois Healthcare provides pathology services to its three hospitals, one major clinic, several outlying rural clinics and has a cancer center affiliation. SIH is looking for a Pathologist to join our growing hospital based pathology practice.

This opportunity will provide a pathologist with opportunities in various types of pathology in a CAP/AABB approved hospital. Annual volumes are increasing and currently: 4000 non-gyn cytology cases (including FNA, EBUS and EUS cases), 13,000 surgical cases (ranging the gamut from biopsies to complex oncologic resections), 1100 peripheral blood smears, 150 bone marrows and 2 adult autopsies. A Pap smear program is currently being developed, and volumes are unknown. Call is on a rotational basis and generally calls are light (currently every 5th week). Clinical pathology is covered by all pathologists and knowledge of clinical issues and clinical troubleshooting is required.

-Applicants should have the following qualifications:



BC in AP/CP pathology and BE/BC in a subspecialty (if applicable)

Preferred but not required:

-3-5 years in practice signing out complex cancer cases utilizing CAP cancer checklists, molecular studies and personalized medicine metrics.

-Comfortable with bone marrow evaluations including those of MDS/MPD.

-The candidate would preferably have strong diagnostic skills in hepatology, soft tissue and dermatopathology.
