This position is clinically based on our inpatient hospitalist service, with the expectation of 26 weeks annually of clinical duties that can include academic and independent clinical activity. We are a growing academic hospitalist section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities of residents in both a one-on-one setting, and rounding teams covering inpatient consults for the Department of Medicine. We are a large tertiary care center that has extensive consultation support and cross department/section collaboration for those faculty members interested in subspecialty fellowship training. In addition, our section provides each non-teaching team with Advance Practice Provider support.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of hospital medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.
Qualifications: applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program at the time of appointment. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
