BC/BE Emergency Medicine Physician Needed for Ongoing Coverage in St. Louis, MO

Mercy Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Emergency Medicine Physician for coverage starting July 1st, 2019.

Additional Details:

MUST have completed an EM residency and have MO license

• Start: July 1

• How many Physicians do you need now? 8-10

• How soon do you need coverage? July 1, 2019

• Total # of Hospital beds 787

• Annual visits: 80,000 visits per year

• PPH: 1.4

• Trauma level: Level 2

• Shifts: Likely 3 day, 3 evening, 2 overnight per month. Likely combo of 9 and 10 hour shifts


• Minimum shifts: ???10-16 per month???

• No “Weekend Only” providers

• How many providers on during the day, and how many on at night? Staggered shifts during day and evening with midlevels. 2 physicians from 2am to 7a.

• Will this Provider supervise mid-levels: NO, locums will not supervise , IF they do have midlevels the shifts will be mid level shifts: 8A-6P; 11A-9P; 3P-11P; 2P-2A

• Are procedures a requirement? Yes, as standard per emergency physicians

• Would you accept a Provider that is not comfortable with certain procedures? No

• Certifications: Need to be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Emergency Medicine

• Missouri license is required

• What’s the EMR system: EPIC

• Privileges: Credentialing takes at minimum 6 weeks from the time the completed application is submitted. If not complete, it will take longer.

• Will you do a phone interview? Yes

• Related travel expenses? Yes, but prefer local docs

• What are the most important qualities out of your Locums Provider? Large availability; can handle high volume; familiar with Epic; current Missouri license.

• 7am to 4pm (9)

• 9am to 5pm (8)

• 11am to 9pm (10)

• 1pm to 10 pm (9)

• 3pm to 12midnight (9)

• 4pm to 1 am (9)

• 5pm to 2 am (9)

• 9pm to 6am (9)

• 11pm to 7am (9)

Required Qualifications:

· Board Eligible/Board Certified American Board of Emergency Medicine

· Must have Active Missouri License
