Harrington HealthCare System in South Central Massachusetts is seeking an Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Physician for a 16 bed Co-Occurring Disorders Unit (CDU) in Webster, Massachusetts. 

Harrington Hospital is a 114 bed acute care community hospital located in South Central Massachusetts with an extensive Behavioral Health System that includes a 14 bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit in Southbridge, MA and a 16 bed adult inpatient co-occurring disorders unit (CDU) in Webster, MA, extensive outpatient psychiatry and mental health services, and outpatient substance abuse services.   

Our services include recovery, substance abuse, adult mental health, school-based services, child and adolescent services, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient services (IOP), inpatient psychiatry and a co-occurring disorders unit (CDU).

Job Summary:

The psychiatrist for the Co-Occurring Disorders Unit (CDU) will provide inpatient psychiatric care to male and female adult patients (Over the age of 18) with substance abuse and psychiatric disorders.  The spectrum of clinical duties includes, but is not limited to, providing acute inpatient treatment to adults with major affective disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and personality disorders in addition to substance use disorders. Candidates must be highly motivated, flexible and able to work as part of an integrated team who will provide sound diagnostic and therapeutic care to Harrington Hospital patients. The psychiatrist will be expected to work as a part of a collaborative team and within a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services to maintain full integration among these levels of care.

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship 
Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine
Board eligible/Board certification in Psychiatry
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in Massachusetts
Must have valid MCSR
Must have valid DEA
Buprenorphine waiver preferred or agreement to seek after hire
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Job performance:

Performs psychiatric evaluations, prescribes psychotropic medications, documents, and follows patients throughout their course of treatment while on the inpatient unit.
Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to work.
Directs and coordinates medical activities related to patient care.
Provides consultation as needed in the Emergency Department per the boarder policy or other extenuating circumstances determined by the Inpatient Medical Director.
Works with Psychiatric Emergency Services, the External Referral Coordinator, Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse providers, the Emergency Department, Harrington Physician Services, the hospital medical staff and nursing administration.
Adheres to the best psychiatric and clinical practices as learned in self-directed continuing education materials. 
Works cooperatively with the Chief of Psychiatry, the Inpatient Medical Director and Senior Leadership to ensure compliance with all  state regulatory and statuary requirements stipulated by the Department of Mental Health, Joint Commission, the Department of Public Health, BSAS and CMS.
Supervises Advanced Practice Clinicians as assigned by the Medical Director of Inpatient Services and completes all necessary paperwork for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts related to this supervision.  
Reports to the Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services.
